MIDI Practice Tool

Starting this thread with paste from another reply that was of topic.

What about Sonar (Cakewalk) of Anvil Studio? I use them to create melody and harmony lines for choir practice. I sing along to the MIDI to learn my part. I can slow it down, speed it up, even change keys. Cakewalk in particular produces a pretty good printed chart for each track.

It seems like they may be a good practice aid for trumpet too! Kinda, make your own \'music minus one\'. Anybody doing this?

Cheers,
Richard

I play along to midis all the time, I think it\'s a great way to subsitute when you don\'t have other live musicians to play along with. Another great thing to get into is multitracking! I\'ve been doing this since I was in 10th grade. I think it\'s a great way to really understand how you sound. Here is an example from that time period http://www.jonkratzer.com/flyingcircus.mp3 I didn\'t really discover the metronome function until a few years later, but it was a great start to the development of my career.

Enjoy

Jon

I found the modern day replacement for the (M - 1) book and tape combo I used to use.

Check out http://www.pgmusic.com/wanttoplay/trumpet.htm

Anyone tried it?

Cheers!
