Throat closing off
Hi all,
I'm having trouble playing in the high register. The problem is that my throat will close off on me and I end up scratching my throat up (if that
makes any sense). I find that I start to feel it close around C on the staff and it completely closes on me when I try to play a G or higher.
I used to have this problem years ago and it went away for a while when I was in college. I do suspect it has something to do with my air flow.
Would anyone be able to help me out (maybe some breathing exercises to expand my endurance or some exercises to help with the high register??
Many thanks,
Lisa

Same problem here. Buzzing scales on the mouthpiece and leadpipe exercises with the "aw" sound in mind seem to be helping. Also, oddly enough,
singing the passages. If I go straight to the horn first I tend to close up the airway.
