Shure SFG-2 Shure SFG-2 Product information : Shure SFG-2 stylus gauge is a very handy piece of kit to have if you like your vinyl. When you set up a turntable, you need to set the weight at the rear of the arm to balance the cartridge. By doing so the correct amount of force pushes the stylus down, and it tracks the record well.The problem is some arms do not have calibration on them, and many of those that do are not particulary reliable. This is where the sylus gauge comes in. By resting the styli on the see saw gauge you can accurately measure the downward force, and set the weight as it should be for the cartridge.
